Aim:
Research Instruments Ltd (RI) is seeking a Marketing & Design Assistant to join their marketing team to support the development and execution of key design and marketing activities. The graduate will produce catalogues and marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite programmes. The successful graduate will be involved in all of the company's design requirements including promotional materials, packaging, manuals, e-newsletters, internal communications and also printing.

Objectives:

  • To design all marketing communications and product literature and co-ordinate the production and distribution with external agencies such as printers and design studios to meet deadlines
  • To create iconography and materials to support new product launches
  • Collate marketing matrics to support and inform the Marketing Departments activities
  • Maintain the current B2B social media marketing plan
  • To co-ordinate the execution of tactical marketing programs, product updates, sales promotions to key customers and distribution channels
  • To co-ordinate and deliver an internal communications plan
  • To maintain a central marketing communications system as a resource for product literature, general marketing materials including presentations, branding guidelines and imagery available and communicate to all internal departments and distributors
  • To learn from and support the other members of the marketing team in areas such as web maintenance, email marketing, search engine optimisation, event coordination and public relations

Nature of work undertaken: The successful graduate will initially familiarise themselves with the business and the product range offered. You will report to the Marketing Manager, Lis Goulder, and support her with all marketing, advertising and promotional activity. With Lis' guidance, you will support all departments and maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values. The right person will grow their career within this exciting and innovative business and will need to employ their drive, creativity, ambition and ideas.

Required Personal skills and qualifications:
Essential Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in Design, Marketing or similar
  • An excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive, pro-active, self-motivated approach
  • Good IT skills, Microsoft Office, including advanced Word and PowerPoint and Excel essential
  • Full clean driving licence

Desirable Requirements:

  • Recent experience in a marketing role/department
  • Experience of social networking, SEO and Google Analytics/ad-words
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Webinar experience

Duration: Temporary, maternity cover

Salary: £17500 to £20000 per annum

Event Production/Marketing Co-ordinator postgraduate placement


For eligible Masters Students through the PPC Scheme

Sunbeam Jackie, www.sunbeamjackie.com,  design and manufacture luxury handmade parasols using antique and vintage fabrics. We also have a rental fleet which we hire out for special events, weddings and festivals.

Placement details:

We are looking for someone to take the initiative in organising a string of marketing stunts to advertise our parasols.
We are currently in the concept phase of developing these marketing stunts. We would work closely with you in all aspects of the project, your role would be pivotal in co-ordinating the overall event.
Working example of possible publicity stunt: Impromptu parasol parades with costumed representatives forming a travelling troupe proceeding through London's shopping centres, Henley regatta etc.
The happenings need to be focused around our target market of well heeled individuals.
This will require the candidate to demonstrate creative maneouverability coupled with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desired outcomes:
Work on publicity.
Raise the public awareness of our brand and product in the right areas of the market to increase sales
Develop our social media presence and network
Develop a good and successful working relationship with you which could lead on to a more fixed position within our company

About the role
This is a new role , part time and with flexible working days for a maximum of 24 hours a week, reporting to the General Manager. You will provide marketing administrative support focusing on growing our online and digital presence. This is a perfect role for somebody who wants to gain marketing experience in one of Cornwall's larger visitor attractions.
